Fantas The DJ, born and raised in Allanridge in the Free State, has built a career that blends musical skill, business vision, and community leadership.

Professionally trained at the Soul Candi Institute of Music, he developed a reputation early on for his technical mastery, genre versatility, and ability to read and command any crowd. Over more than a decade, his consistency behind the decks has made him a sought-after performer at major events across South Africa. His polished stage presence, coupled with an ear for fresh sounds, cemented him as one of the Free State’s premier DJs.
Yet, Fantas’s ambitions reached beyond simply playing music. Recognizing the lack of large-scale, homegrown events in the region that could both entertain audiences and empower emerging talent, he began curating his own signature experiences. This move transformed him from being just a DJ to becoming a respected entertainment and events mogul in the Free State.
One of his earliest and most successful ventures was The Parking Lot series an annual festival that has grown into a cultural highlight on the regional calendar. Each edition features around 30 local acts and attracts more than 8,000 attendees, creating a high-energy space where established names and rising stars share the stage. The Parking Lot’s open-air setup, dynamic music mix, and celebration of local culture have turned it into more than an event it’s a community institution. For many young artists, it serves as their first major platform, providing vital exposure and professional experience.

Beyond the music, Fantas has consistently tied his brand to community upliftment. His annual birthday charity drive on June 15th is a notable example, where he provides school shoes, food parcels, and entertainment to underprivileged children. The day includes motivational talks, sporting activities, and live music, and has grown to such prominence that it now draws attendance from the MEC of Arts and Culture and other local leaders. This blend of music and social responsibility has made Fantas not just an entertainer, but a figure of community pride.
His most talked-about creation in recent years is Drip Sundays, a monthly lifestyle event that began during the COVID-19 lockdown. Launched at a time when gatherings were heavily restricted, the first edition sold out in under three weeks, proving Fantas’s ability to read the cultural moment and deliver exactly what people craved: connection, music, and style. Held at Lovies Chesa Nyama in Allanridge, Drip Sundays merged nightlife with fashion culture, encouraging attendees to show up in their best looks under the theme “Your Style, Your Rules But Drip Hard.”

The event has since grown in scale and reputation, with the Welkom Edition in December 2024 marking a major milestone. Hosted at Wild N Out Pub & Eatery, it featured an impressive lineup including Focalistic, Pabi Cooper, DJ Cairo, Thebe, Gogo Skhotheni, Legoody, Jackson Brainwave, and Stu. It also incorporated fashion-focused features like a “Drip Check Booth” and collaborations with local brands such as Swagg, Qhweling & Vintage, and Blacktie & The Works. In Fantas’s own words, Drip Sundays is “a vibe, an experience, and a moment to remember,” perfectly encapsulating the event’s blend of music, culture, and identity.
Through ventures like The Parking Lot and Drip Sundays, Fantas The DJ has solidified his place as one of the most influential cultural curators in the Free State. He has managed to fuse his skills as a performer with the vision of a businessman, building platforms that promote local artistry, celebrate fashion, and bring communities together. His journey from DJ to entertainment powerhouse reflects not just personal ambition, but a deep commitment to elevating the Free State’s cultural presence in South Africa’s entertainment landscape.
